ASI Officers | Bulletin Board | Contact Us | Reunion 2006 | ASI Alumni Annual Reunion_2006 August 12th & 13th A complimentary continental breakfast was provided on Saturday morning for 7:00 - 9:00 AM at the old school building cafeteria. Registration was from Saturday morning through Sunday lunch. The Saturday evening meal was served at the old school building from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. This was a spaghetti dinner provided by the Thermal City Methodist Church. Immediately following the dinner, door prizes were awarded. At 7:00 PM a live band provided entertainment in the auditorium. 120 persons attended the Saturday activities.
Saturday Dinner Slide Show On Sunday morning, August 13th, the church service was at Round Hill Baptist Church. We were honored to have our own alumnus, Palmer Olliff, as our speaker for the 11:00 service. Palmer, now retired, is Curator for the History of Charleston, SC.

The Sunday lunch was served in the "Old ASI Dining Hall" (which is now the United World Mission Cafeteria) after church services. This was a catered meal provided by Barbara Hawkins. There was a business meeting after the meal. Sunday Dinner Slide Show There was a moment of silence for all those deceased during the past year: Jack Fitts, 1949, Garth Craig, 1930, Joan Mashburn Parker, 1950, Irene Koone, teacher, Geneva Mills, teacher, Howard Jaynes Sr. (did not graduate), Ozette Short Patterson, 1932, Louise Smith, 1942, Robert Anthony Grady, 1973, Donald Keeter, 1938, Vera Mae Pritchard (did not graduate), Louise Nanney Crowe, 1942, Jeana Briscoe Harrill (did not graduate) THIS IS THE YEAR FOR THE UNION MILLS ALUMNI AND V.T. COOPER SCHOLARSHIPS The winners for 2006 are C.J. Harbort, son of Don and Samantha Harbort, attending UNC Chapel Hill; Anna Nicole Honeycutt, daughter of Sheryl and James R. Honeycutt, attending UNC Greensboro; Scott Miller, son of Elaine Hall Miller, attending UNC Charlotte; and Emily Elizabeth Koone, daughter of DeWalt and Shirley Koone, attending NC State. Ron Wright and Skip Forney traded positions: Skip from Sec-Treas. To Council Member and Ron from Council Member to Sec-Treas., which was approved by the council. Kenneth Henline was elected as a board member. 70 persons attended the business meeting. |
